Notes about text oddities(a)
If the author is developing programs for distribution to others, some facts about Text Fonts must be considered.
Text Fonts reside on individual computers, NOT within programs. An author who uses an unusual font and then exports a program to a computer within which that font is not resident will see some very irritating and unusual displays!
If an unusual font must be used, the author must make some provision for installing it on the client machine: this can be difficult to do legally, as most fonts are copyrighted!
Safe fonts for both Windows and Macintosh are Arial, Times New Roman and Courier.
