Product: Donkey Kong HTML - Multi Screen (Nintendo) Simulator Version: 4.5 Started: 27.05.2000 Last update: 12.02.2003 Author: Andrzej Czyz (andrzej.czyz@blindfold.z.pl) Website: www.blindfold.z.pl Original: Nintendo Co. Ltd Donkey Kong HTML v4.5 1. Info Donkey Kong HTML Project has begun one evening, when I was thinking about handheld remake on PC. However I didn't want to make yet-another-game, there are 1000 of it all over the web. So I've chosen... HTML&JavaScript. Main goal is that game have to use first of all HTML commands and THEN JavaScript in few cases. Which game have I chosen? ...Of course the one, which I remember the most from my childhood - Donkey Kong. Personally I haven't got one, but I remember my best (wonder why? :) friend bought one. 2. Status For now it runs only in Internet Explorer, there are too many differences in almost every interpretation of JavaScript. The game has got everything it needs, I think. There is many features included, even some normal-language games haven't. Sorry for not implementing 32-bit sound mixer, and joypad control :). I think JavaScript was developed for different purposes... Now it's time for differences from the original game. First of all there is score limit to 9999 points, not only 999, so the bonus is every 300, 1300, 2300... points and so on. I had to change sound a little for faster download on the fly, though still sound good. There is no chance mode :( but... there is a HI-SCORE!!!. Yep. I keep all hi-scores/prefs in cookies, so if you play from your local hard disk, every directory change resets it. I don't have an original, so please forgive me every feature I missed. 3. History ver 4.5 +fixed hook stop when miss is done ver 4.4 +controls fixed -still don't have an original ver 3.9 Playable game, still not perfect. ver 1.1 The whole code is very creeeeepy. I think, that soon I will come back to this and rewrite everything. I will throw away all the mechanism, I won't use DHTML and throw away all "div" markers (it's the static game, so why should I need any displacement?) There are many features like sound on/off switch, keyboard control and so on, right now I'm working on it, co please wait a couple of days. ver 0.3 The game was not finished in a matter of lives/points counters, sound, keyboard control. Everything except this is mostly similar to original. Unfortunately in later releases I've removed barrels collision. Relax, I will correct all soon. 4. Thanks _MADrigal_, (madrigal.retrogames.com), for his version of this game, so I could see this game again. I have also modeled my gfx as I saw it in his version, Nintendo Co. Ltd., for inspiration and making such a great handheld game. 5. Other The author is in no way affiliated with Nintendo Co. Ltd. "Donkey Kong" (DK-52) (C) Nintendo Co.
