Lesson Five: Erasures
The Erase Icon is used to cause the Authorware program to erase previously displayed Display Icon contents.
An Erase Icon on the Flowline

The most economical way to set up an Erase Icon is to run the program after dragging the Erase Icon to the flowline. ( Either click on the "Run" Icon on the Toolbar RunButton35.gif - 0.17 K.) or choose the"Run" option from the "Try It" pulldown menu,)
When the program gets to the Erase Icon, it will automatically pause and display the following dialog box:

The author simply clicks on the display item(s) to be erased (visible in the Presentation Window behind the Dialog box) and clicks on the "OK" button. The program will resume immediately.

The "Transition" option controls HOW the icons are to be erased, just as in PowerPoint the author can control how screens are presented. (Note: In Authorware, you can control BOTH appearance transitions and erase transitions--we'll deal with the appearance transitions later.)
