Lesson Four: Authorware Imported Graphics
When a Display Icon is opened, it will allow the author to "import" graphic images from files already on the host computer. This may be done in two ways (three ways in AW4.0):
- By using the "Import" option from the "File" pulldown menu,
- By "copying" an image in a drawing or editing program and then "pasting" it into the Display Icon, and
- (IN AW4.0), by clicking on the "Import" button on the Toolbar (
)
The first and third methods are by far the preferable ones, as much greater control may be exercised over the graphic image's color resolution and appearance.
Authorware 4 will import almost all commonly used graphic file types, but AW3.5 is limited to ".bmp"s (Windows Bitmaps) and ".tif"s (TIFF format files) for Windows machines and Mac PICT files for Macintosh machines.
In a simple tutorial such as this, there is not reason or time to go into graphic file considerations in depth--these will be covered in class!
