Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge Reveal How They Developed Lando Calrissian and L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story

We sat down with Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who play Lando Calrissian and the droid L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story, to find out how the duo created their characters. Here’s what they had to say about working together:

A droid could be considered man’s best friend, which appears to be the case with Lando and L3-37. Waller-Bridge said of their relationship:

“They seem to challenge each other a lot, I think, and that was part of the fun, and knowing that they could be rude to each other and that’s actually their way of saying ‘I like you and I respect you.’”

It seems like Glover and Waller-Bridge’s friendship is just as fun offscreen as their characters’ in the film! When asked if he received any advice for his role, Glover said:

“I was told to be charming by Billy Dee Williams—”

To which Waller-Bridge joked:

“Which was a struggle.”

Let’s be real, we all know Glover is as charming as can be. We’re excited to witness the duo’s adventures together when Solo: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters May 25!
