- Designer Profile -

When Michio was in junior high school, he once sent a letter to a stationery manufacturer with a drawing of one of their products and a note reading, “I have a design idea that might make your product better.” Fast forward to today—now he is a fully-fledged product designer. Michio has helped design many devices used by the general public such as traffic lights and vending machines, and he feels that creating things anyone can easily use numbers among his life’s callings.

Born in Osaka in 1953, after graduating from the Faculty of Art at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music, he worked at a major electronics manufacturer before becoming an independent designer in 1988.

The act of stamping something in ink carries with it important meaning. The desire to make an stamp mat perfect for such occasions became the inspiration for my design. It’s a very simple design, but the look and feel of the object’s materials and geometry perfectly accent the situation at hand with a sleek yet official air. It truly is a fun, satisfying product you will want to use again and again.
