1. You have to draw a cross-section elevation of the three naves.

First you must decide the measures of the square in which the elevation must fit.

Drag the small nodes (small circles at the ends)

The church must not be too big, nor too small. The advised measures for the square are 14, 16 and 18 meters.

The right proportions for the naves are calculated as follows:

- The central nave must double the width of the side ones.

- The height of the side naves can vary. They must reach at least half the height of the central nave, but they must not surpass the point where the vault of the central nave begins.

2. Prior to starting building, the thickness of the walls must be established.

If you risk setting it at random and the nave collapses, you will have to start again.

To make an accurate calculation, go to the help window, that shows the method used by medieval builders.

Once the thickness of the wall is established, you must drag the blocks to the position shown by the foundations. Add blocks until a message appears asking you to place the dome support (a semicircular wooden structure) over the pillars.

When the dome support is ready you must build the arch dragging the voussoirs to their right place.

Resources

When the piles of coins appear, you must drag them to the window above. Thus you will see the pace of construction.

If you want to know what happens in a given year without having to play all the game, you can use this trick: right-click on the mouse and select the option to advance.

Assembly

You must drag each piece into place. You're allowed to add only one piece every time. To add a new piece, click on the arrow.

The correct order is:

Apse / Pillar / Wall / Round arch (in the side naves) / Wall / Round arch (in the central nave) / Barrel vault (right or left) / Pendentive (in the center) / Dome / Double-sloped roof / Pillar / Round arch (in the side naves) / Rib vault / Wall / Round arch / Barrel vault / Single-sloped roof / Double-sloped roof / Portal

3D Models

There are five virtual reality reconstructions. Four of them are theoretical models of different kinds of churches, and the last is the exact rendering of the chancery of Sant Vicenç de Cardona, a jewel of Catalan romanesque and the subject of all the games on this site.

The user can enter these virtual renderings and visit them in real time, which means that he can move around freely using the arrows of the toolbar below.

Each model is presented from three different viewpoints:

- Human view: it's the viewpoint that any person walking into the church would have.

- View from below: it's the imaginary viewpoint from underground. It's ideal to appreciate the plan of the building.

- Aerial view: it's a bird's-eye view. It's ideal to appreciate the volumes.

If you drag the cursor over any virtual architectural element, a hand appears showing the name of the element.

You can enlarge the vision of the 3D model moving the vertical bar to the right.

It's absolutely necessary to have Viscape.Svr installed.
