"Why don't you beat the drums" - President Nelson Mandela at the Opening of Parliament, Cape Town, South Africa, 11 February 2005.

So please, put your hand against your heart. Breathe. Feel the beat, the driving force that holds our lives together.  Without rhythm the heart wouldn't beat.  I would like to invite you to become part of the rhythm section.

The Djembe can become that driving force.  The Djembe is a West-African sacred drum used in healing ceremonies, rites of passage, ancestral worship, warrior rituals, as well as social dances.

'Drumming can provide personal therapy for those who believe it works for them.  When you discover your personal rhythm, you can attain your true inner spiritual self.  Rhythm can guide us towards peace, self awareness and personal growth.  The Dogon, an ethnic group in Mali say that the drum is the ear of God and one must beat it with the attitude that one is speaking to God on behalf of mankind.  This attitude requires respect, but also great force.  "A feeble effort will not fulfill the self".'

Through the positive, healing energy of the Djembe one witnesses how this energy touches all of those who allow themselves to surrender to it.  It is the heartbeat of Mother Earth, it embraces the soul and it brings a smile and a dance.
