Summary 1: Body Temperature Increases

The responses that occur at the skin are involuntary actions (reflex actions), meaning that the responses of the skin to the temperature rise cannot be controlled consciously.

There are other voluntary actions that the person may take to reduce his body temperature such as:
• Taking a cold drink
• Taking a shower
• Fanning himself
• Switching on a fan or air-conditioner

Both the involuntary and voluntary actions work to bring about the desired outcome, which is to reduce the body temperature.
