“Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures” is designed to ease the transition from the home life to the school life for children as they venture off into their years of formal education. It examines the questions, concerns, and challenges every child faces as they move into this new world.
“Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures” does this by creating interest and excitement in the school experience. It presents a positive and light-hearted account of the baffling unfamiliarity that they are about to embark upon. It delves into everything from the unanticipated pleasures to the awkward social and developmental issues navigated by school children during their weeks, months, and years in the school system.
Each episode contains two separate 13-minute segments in which Betsy and her friends take on new adventures. Within each story, the Kindergarteners learn an academic and behavioral lesson, and they use these lessons to solve the main problems of the segments.
There are also educational interstitials before and after the 13-minute segments. These help to highlight lessons learned throughout the series and do so in a quick and fun way.
“Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures” was created by Kindergarten teacher and children’s author Betsy M. Quinn, based on her own stories with her students. It is directed by Academy Award-winning animator Fred Crippen. It is for audiences ages 2-6.
