These are a few general purpose palette files. There is no "single best" palette; it depends on taste and the kind of images. The palettes EXPLORER.PAL and INDEO32.PAL are my personal favorites. That said, the value of an optimized palette (for an animation or for a complete program) should not be underestatimated. CINEPAK.PAL The palette used by the CinePak codec for video for Windows. EXPLORER.PAL The standard palette of Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. This palette is nearly the same as HALFTONE.PAL. HALFTONE.PAL The halftoning palette used by WinG library. INDEO32.PAL The palette used by the Indeo 3.2 codec for video for Windows. INDEO41.PAL The palette used by the Indeo 4.1 codec for video for Windows. MACSYS.PAL The system palette of the Macintosh. This is *not* a Windows identity palette. NETSCAPE.PAL The standard palette for the Netscape Navigator (Windows version). QUAKE.PAL The palette for the ID-Software's "Quake" RAINBOW.PAL A palette with bright and saturated colours. WEBSAFE.PAL The 216 colours that any browser should be able to display in any operating system. WINDOWS.PAL The default (dummy) palette of Microsoft Windows. This palette appears to be slightly adjusted for gamma.
