Lunar Invaders

Game Instructions

Earth is (once again) under attack! The invading aliens are attempting to capture the moon, in order to stage an assault on our planet. If the aliens succeed in landing, the earth will be doomed! You must prevent this at all costs.

Manouver you lunar defender using the [Left] and [Right] arrows keys. Press [Space Bar] to fire your current weapon. Be sure to destroy alien saucer command ships (which travel accross the top of the screen), as they will drop power-ups to increase your firepower (power-ups are described below). Your game is over if any aliens land on the lunar surface or if all of your lunar defenders are destroyed.

Power-ups

Power-Up Description
Rapid Fire Increases the rate of fire of your lunar defender's main weapon
Ultra Rapid Fire Same as above, with even higher rate of fire
Rail Gun Very powerful beam weapon that destroys anything in it's path. With careful aim, the rail gun can be used to destroy multiple aliens with a single shot.
Lightning Gun This gun discharges a powerful bolt of electricity which , like the rail gun, will destroy anything it's path. Also like the rail gun, this weapon can be used to destroy multiple targets with a single shot. Unlike the rail gun however, this weapon will not damage your shield array, and so can be fired with relative safety from behind them.
Ultra Lightning Gun Same as above, with 3 bolts of electricity. One of the most powerful weapons in the game.
3 Stage Rockets These rockets will split into 3 smaller rockets once they reach a certain altitude, ideal for taking out multiple targets.
5 Stage Rockets Same as above, however these will split into 5 rockets.
Sideswipers These rockets will travel up to a certain altitude, and then automatically detonate and launch 8 additional rockets which fly out horizontally accross the screen destroying whatever targets they intercept (including your shields).
Cluster Rockets These rockets will detonate only when they hit an alien target. Upon successful detonation, several new rockets are launched in all directions, destroying whatever targets they intercept.
Ultra Cluster Rockets Same as above, with even more warheads. Another one of the more powerful weapons in the game.

Scoring Bonuses

There are several different ways of scoring bonus points as you battle the attacking alien forces. For example, destroying more then 3 aliens with a single shot, or destroying a wave of aliens within a certain amount of time (or with only 1 or 2 shots), will earn you bonus points in addition to the points earned for actually destroying the aliens. Be observant as you play to discover how the bonus scoring mechanism works and you will achieve much higher scores!
