Top 100 Thrillers from NPR: Killer Thrillers August 4th, 2010 The NPR audience nominated over 600 novels to the "Killer Thrillers" poll. The final roster of winners, though, is very diverse and even includes The Last of the Mohicans. I think a lot of this has to do with the definition of a Thriller. Not sure every book belongs on the list, but it's a good jumping point for your reading pleasure. You know I love lists! I've read 88 of the 100, so I know I'll have a new TBR stack forming soon. The final NPR Killer Thriller list ranges in style and period from Dracula to The Da Vinci Code, Presumed Innocent to Pet Sematary. "What these top 100 titles share, however, is that all of them are fast-moving tales of suspense and adventure. And menace. Critic Maureen Corrigan, who served on the advisory panel of experts for this project, was surprised by how dark many of your choices are. "Even the [Agatha] Christie pick, And Then There Were None, is one of her creepier novels." Co-panelist, novelist and critic Patrick Anderson was more impressed with the overall quality of the choices: "The vast majority of these are very good books or classics ... Thomas Harris, Dennis Lehane, Patricia Highsmith — this audience knows good writing." NPR audience's favorite thriller writer? Stephen King, who landed six titles in the top 100. Lee Child comes next, with four winning books. And, at three titles each, Michael Crichton, Dennis Lehane and Stieg Larsson tie for third. Note from the uploader: These are all presented in ePub format. Wherever possible, I scoured, searched, and requested good epub sources. Where I oculdn't find things in ePub format, I checked my local library (so some of these will be upgrades to other torrents/versions/fomats on the site and some were not even here) and included what I could find. When the library and site both failed to provide a decent ePub version, I have converted other formats (so far: .mobi) to epub with calibre. Enjoy! 1. The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris 2.
